Introduction to Master Surat Singh Prerna Academy
The name Master Surat Singh Prerna Academy has been chosen to honor the remarkable legacy of our great-grandfather, Master Surat Singh Malik. Born in 1902 and passing away in 1995, Master Surat Singh was a distinguished government school teacher who retired as a school in-charge. Beyond his professional role, he was a dedicated patriot who actively contributed to India’s struggle for independence in 1947.
Master Surat Singh’s life was marked by resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to education. Orphaned at the tender age of two after his father Govind Singh’s demise, he persevered through hardship with the support of his father-in-law. He eventually settled in Kakrauli (Muzaffarnagar), his father-in-law’s village, leaving behind his ancestral village of Pinna (Shamli district).
Through sheer determination and foresight, Master Surat Singh earned immense respect in society. His bold thinking and forward-looking vision led him to value education at a time when few recognized its importance. He not only excelled in his teaching profession but also expanded his family’s agricultural holdings from 90 bighas to 600 bighas through relentless hard work and dedication.
One of his most remarkable qualities was his belief in equality. Despite social norms of the time, Master Surat Singh ensured that his daughters received the same respect, care, and inheritance as his four sons, showcasing his progressive mindset and commitment to fairness.
Inspired by his life, values, and dedication to education, we, his great-grandchildren, have proudly named our academy the Master Surat Singh Prerna Academy. This institution stands as a tribute to his legacy, aiming to inspire future generations with the same spirit of perseverance, education, and equality that defined Master Surat Singh’s remarkable life.
